The Snow Queen Lodge, circa 1886
Aspen's Best Kept Secret
"The Gem of Aspen" - Aspen Historic Society
Built in 1886 during the height of Aspen's Silver Boom, the Snow Queen is still one of Aspen's oldest Victorians.
My mother Norma Dolle bought this victorian home in 1974, right next door to her identical twin sister Marge Babcock's B& B, the Little Red Ski Haus. She also turned it into a B&B and soon they were known as the "Twin Victorian Lodge Twins". They were also the original Toni Twins in Chicago IL.and sang together like the Andrews Sisters
The Snow Queen has been family owned and operated for over 45 years. Sadly Norma passed away in May 2020 at 94, and her twin sister Marge was only 6 days behind her...but their legacy and stories live on in those whose lives they touched.
In 2001 Norma's son Dave Ledingham took the torch from his brother Larry who decided to retire from the Snow Queen and has been overseeing operations for 20 years and raising his family in Aspen.
David is also a successful actor who carved out a successful career in NYC, and LA and is the founder of the Aspen Fringe Festival. He runs AFF along with his wife, dancer and choreographer Adrianna Thompson, Ledingham still acts on the west coast and has acted in and directed numerous plays with Theatre Aspen.
They are proud that their son Aidan Ledingham is studying to be an actor in NYC at Pace University
